LUSY Wins GOLD Chapter of Excellence at NERUSY Spring Convention
At the annual Spring Convention, held May 9-11, of the New England Region of United Synagogue Youth (NERUSY), co-chaired by Temple Emunah’s USY President Josh Basseches, Lexington USY (LUSY) won numerous awards and recognitions, the most prestigious being named a GOLD Chapter of Excellence. LUSY also won Chapter of Excellence awards for:
- Tikun Olam, Naomi Druy, VP
- Religion Education, Charlene Thrope, VP
- Social Action, Dan Speicher, VP
- Israel Programming, Ari Hausman, VP
- Communications, Max Lerman, VP
And, congratulations to Charlene Thrope, NERUSY's new Executive Vice President of Religion and Education!
In addition, our chapter was recognized for making the 2nd largest chapter TO donation ($2000) in NERUSY (Natick was #1 with $2300) and for increasing membership by nearly 10% (up to 113). Also, LUSY sent the 3rd largest number of delegates, 21, trailing Natick only by one and Providence by three; both of those temples having significantly larger congregations.
