Founded over 30 years ago, the Lexington Institute of Jewish Studies is the fruit of a long-standing collaboration between the Adult Education Committees of Temples Isaiah and Emunah. LIJS provides classes in Jewish history, the Bible, sacred Jewish text, and Judaic culture, and is open to the entire community. This Spring we are hosting the class: "Israeli Culture through the Lens of Israeli Cinema: From Building a Homeland to Israel Today," With Sigalit Davis.
In this class, which will meet on Thursday evenings, March 5, 12, and 19, 8:00 PM at Temple Isaiah, we will capture the faces, voices, and issues in Israeli society through Israeli films. Who are the people, what were their hopes, what are their narratives, how has Israel changed over the decades, and how do we perceive it all? Film clips will be shown and discussed in class. There is some flexibility to allow additional movie clips at your request and there will be plenty of time for questions. Please join us! Registration form and more details HERE.
