PRIDE Shabbat with Guest Speaker and Virtual Kiddush

The month of June was chosen for LGBT Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. Many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBT people have had in the world, and we at Temple Emunah will be recognizing this month in a variety of ways as well.

On Saturday, June 6, Rachel Grossman, who grew up attending Temple Emunah and who recently rejoined our community as an adult member will be our virtual speaker. Rachel is a PsyD candidate and will speak on the results of her research while attending Antioch University New England. Her research focuses on the the impact of a supportive religious environment on young adults who identify as gay, lesbian or bisexual. Rachel will also share some personal stories growing up gay and Jewish. The virtual kiddish will follow services and congregants will have the opportunity to share thoughts and questions with Rachel during that time.

PRIDE Shabbat is sponsored by the Temple Emunah Keruv Committee. We acknowledge the generous contributions of Julie Greenberg and Ron Chaney in supporting this committee.
