Temple Emunah is thrilled to be hosting a virtual discussion with author and transgender rights activist Mimi Lemay on Wednesday, June 17, 8:00 PM. Mimi Lemay is an author, advocate for transgender rights and a member of Human Rights Campaign’s Parents for Transgender Equality Council. She has written for The Boston Globe and has appeared on both national and international television, including an NBC Nightly News segment: Jacob's Journey: Life as a Transgender 5-Year-Old, that holds the title of the network's most viewed segment on Facebook.
Mimi and the entire Lemay family fought for passage of an equal access public accommodations law in Massachusetts in 2015-2016, against the repeal of the law in 2017-2018 and for a successful conversion therapy ban (2019). She holds a Masters in Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University and is the author of an acclaimed memoir, What We Will Become: A Mother, A Son and A Journey of Transformation, released in November 2019, and a finalist for the 2020 Massachusetts Book Awards.
We welcome all to participate in this important discussion! This event is Sponsored by The Temple Emunah Sisterhood, in collaboration with the Keruv Committee and Lex Pride.
